VACANCY: ASSISTANT/DEPUTY TOWN CLERK (part time, career graded post)

An opportunity to join this ambitious Council in a key role has arisen. We are looking for a Deputy Clerk to support the Town Clerk in delivering services to the Community. As this is a niche role, we recognise that there may be a need for training and so are offering this as a career graded post with a support package around the individual who will be commenced as an ‘Assistant Clerk’ in the first instance. Progression to the role of Deputy Clerk will be possible after passing through a period of training. Clearly, depending on the candidate, we may appoint straight into the Deputy Clerk position.

Salary Scale: LC2 spinal points 13-28 (£22,627 – £32,234 per annum, pro rata for part-time)(pay award pending)

Hours of Work: 20 hours per week (inclusive of evening work)

25 days annual leave per annum (30 days after 5 years service), plus public holidays

Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme

About the role:

Stapleford Town Council is a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation.  We are looking for a self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude to support the Town Clerk with delivering the Council’s ambitious plans for the Town.  This is an exciting time to be joining the Council and the successful candidate will play a key role in developing new services for the community.

The primary functions of this role are to manage the Council’s facilities and three members of staff, provide committee administration support and to lead on events management.  Candidates should therefore have a reasonable knowledge of local government law and procedures, experience of budget and project management and either hold the Certificate in Local Government Administration (CiLCA) or equivalent, or be willing to work towards it.

Attendance at evening meetings will be required along with occasional weekends.
