What is Dig In?

Dig In Community Allotment

Albany allotments, Pasture Road, Stapleford, Nottingham. NG9 8HZ Tel: 07943 700302 email: enquiries@diginstapleford.org.uk web: www.diginstapleford.org.uk blog: www.digincommunityallotment.blogspot.co.uk Facebook & Twitter

Dig In Community allotment is located on the Albany allotments site, Pasture Road in Stapleford. It’s a 3-plot allotment with a lot of growing space with regular ground level beds and raised beds for those who find it difficult to get to the ground. There’s a polytunnel which provides a sheltered area for more tender plants and is great for us to shelter in when its raining! There’s a mini-orchard with various fruit trees and a wildlife pond with decking area. A permanent herb bed attracts many bees and other insects.

We try to encourage wildlife by not using chemicals and having flowers growing in some areas.

All tools, seeds and everything else needed to get gardening are provided, all you need is to dress according to the weather conditions and wear appropriate footwear. Its free, friendly, and you share in the day’s harvest to take home with you.

We have a composting loo with a ramp to make it accessible to all.

Why not come along and give it a try?

Open to all on Wednesdays & Saturdays, 10am-12noon, just ring the bell on the gate.

Join us at the 2019 Stapleford Show for all Local Gardeners

Keen gardener?

Get the best from your efforts by joining the Stapleford & District Garden Holders Association (SDGHA)

Formed initially for Stapleford’s allotment tenants, the friendly SDGHA community welcomes anyone interested in gardening at any level, young or old, novice, struggling or experienced. Interested, but don’t have an allotment? Join as an associate member and benefit from all SDGHA’s local activities.

SDGHA volunteers run two “trading sheds”, one at the Albany allotment site on Pasture Road, the other at the Bessell Lane site. These offer a huge variety of horticultural products at discounted prices, opening weekly during Spring to Autumn from 10 – 12 on Sunday mornings.

The SDGHA organises the popular Annual Stapleford Open Garden Show attracting many visitors. Anyone can enter the many categories for vegetables, fruit, flowers and homemade produce. There is a raffle, many side stalls, and a very popular auction where all entries are sold. Why not come and visit in August? Entry is free.

SDGHA also runs a stall at the Stapleford Carnival; provides a link between the Town Council and Stapleford allotment holders, for full members a link to the National Allotments Society.

If you have gardening problems, there is certain to be help from an SDGHA member.

Annual SDGHA membership costs as little as £1.50.
